Self Compassion

Navigating life changes requires embracing self-compassion as a crucial ally. It acts as a soothing balm during turbulent times, offering a gentle reminder to treat oneself with kindness amidst uncertainty.

By cultivating self-compassion, you create a supportive inner dialogue that acknowledges your struggles without judgment, fostering resilience and emotional stability.

This practice not only eases the discomfort of change but also empowers you to adapt with grace, allowing for a deeper understanding and acceptance of the evolving circumstances.

Limiting Beliefs

To exercise self compassion, it's important to understand the inner critic that can often mute our words of self compassion. Negative narratives at their core are limiting beliefs.  Limiting beliefs often come in the form of: “I don’t,” “I can’t,” “I should/shouldn’t,” and “others are/will.”  Think of them as the lies we tell ourselves.

Loving affirmations can be a direct antidote to your limiting beliefs. Click here to explore this tool that helps you combat your Limiting Beliefs and create loving affirmations that work for you.

  • What are your affirmations?
  • Write them down.
  • Put them on a post-it note and stick them where you'll regularly see them!
  • Think of these as your touchstones of self-compassion.

Holding Space

You are learning how to hold space for change. But what does holding space really mean? Holding space involves being actively present, receptive, and supportive, ensuring that both you and others feel safe to express themselves and meet their needs in each moment.

Consider the words individually:

Hold: To embrace or encircle someone or something within your grasp. In the context of change, you hold space through your intention, attention, and energy.

Space: The immediate environment you share. Here, it refers to the mental and emotional environment you create and inhabit with yourself and others.

Holding space for ourselves during change allows us to gain a deeper understanding of who we are. Often, we create false narratives about ourselves based on others' perceptions, placing undue importance on how others view us rather than on our own self-understanding.

reflect

  • Who are you, when you’re not connected to anyone else?
  • Does this change your view of yourself?
